Ratings & matchmaking

Each digit mode has an independent Glicko-2 rating, starting at 1500. Results change your rating according to your opponent’s rating and how certain each rating is. The size of a win does not change the rating adjustment.

New ratings start with a deviation of 350 and volatility of 0.06. We use one result per rating period and a volatility constraint of 0.5. Uncertainty grows with inactivity. A rating is provisional until at least 10 rated results and a deviation of 150 or less.

Ranked matchmaking starts near your rating and widens its search over time. Automatic matchmaking avoids your previous ranked opponents in the same digit mode for 10 minutes. A mutually accepted rematch stays ranked, with a fresh puzzle and a separate rating result.

Quick Match searches all three digit modes using your separate rating in each. You get the oldest compatible opponent; when both players choose Quick Match, an eligible mode is selected at random. Only the played mode’s rating changes. Choosing specific digits always keeps your match in that mode.

Practice and friend invites are casual. Cancelled matches and draws where neither player solves do not change ratings. A forfeit or disconnect after the match starts counts as a loss.

The leaderboard shows up to 50 active, established accounts per mode. Ratings may be corrected if a result is voided after review.
